Our Co-op

In Jangling Space, we come up with collective ideas to generate glass products that are both beautiful and have meaning (being based on local heritage).

This happens in our Cooperative Workshop, which takes place in Shawlands Arcade, Glasgow. We work ‘out-in-the-open’, people can see us working in our shop.

To become a Member of our Co-op, people have to attend Classes. You are able to learn the skills needed to make our products in a friendly, supportive environment.

Once the basic skills have been mastered, our Members can attend our Cooperative Workshops, which are FREE. This is not a class, here we can learn from each other.

Re-Use/Recycle

When thinking about our products, we want to incorporate ‘found’ or discarded materials as much as possible.

This sends a message that there is beauty in almost everything around us. How can we see our world differently, and what role do we play?

Self-Sustaining

Alongside our ‘bread-and-butter’ products made in the Cooperative Workshop, we also take commissions and can advise and carry out repair work.

This is what we call our Members Workshop. You have to have reached a good level of proficiency to take part in this (and we encourage people to practise by making pieces in Cooperative Workshop to do this).

Our aim is to be self-sustaining - this is important to our overall independence.
